REGULAR EXPRESSION FOR FLOATING POINT NUMBER


This the Regular expression for floating point numbers and
this can be used with grep or egrep for searching
floating point numbers in any text file.

(\+|-)?([0-9]+\.?[0-9]*|\.[0-9]+)([eE](\+|-)?[0-9]+)?
