 Unix Tip #4419- April 17, 2025

TRANSFERRING MULTIBYTE FILES

Do you find trouble in transferring
multibyte binary data files to Windows
and then read through HexEditor ?
(Or some such windows based application )

Try Solaris/HP-UX command /usr/bin/od
to generate octal and hexadecimal Dump !

-x Interpret words in hex.

$od -x

will generate Hex View on stdout.
For more usage on the command explore
"man od".
