Unix Tip #4618- November 1, 2024

GETTING IPs FROM IFCONFIG

You can use ifconfig to lookup
IP addresses bound to your box.
If you do not want to search the
output from ifconfig, use the
following command to get just
the IP listing.

ifconfig | awk '/inet/{print $2}' | awk -F: '{print $2}'

NOTE: All tips provided are USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Tips are submitted by various unix admins around the globe. UGU suggest you read and test each tip in a non-volitile environment before placing into production.
